Living the Golden Rule

Because of my concern for the opinions expressed here to carry over into my private life and business, I thought that I would begin a blog that talked about ethics.

Ethics have nothing to with Religion.  in fact I do not consider "religion" or "Religious organoizations" to have ethical sta ndards at all.  In fact they APPEAR to violate nearly every ethical standard that I know of.  Even the ones that are expressed in their own holy writings.

In My case, I wanted a place to speak my mind about things without the encumberance of having my business associates, customers and even family know who this was.  Best of all, it is a place to say my philosophical piece.

for the most part, my goal here is to spread the word of "The Golden rule".  I do not care which political party you come from or which of the thousands of religions on this earth.  i want to have a discussion of personal ethical behavior only.
The so called "Golden Rule" has been formally written down in surviving  stories and writing from as long as 4000 years ago.  Confuscious expressed it in his writings, as did Lat Tzu.  Jesus expressed it as well.  The form may well be the oldest Law ever devised and is the absolutely most basic of the stones in the foundations of civililized behavior.  In fact, I would give the opinion that this code is the basis of ANY kind of Civilization.  The Mosaic Law was based on this. Look at the points, "Do not Lie"  "Do not Steal"  Do not covet your neighbor or his goods.

Whenever you are about to tell someone off or cut them off in traffic, or respond to a political opinion  Think of how you would like to b e told.  disagree?  yes!  why not, but you have no need to make it a personal attack.   The same for religious arguments.  I do not care which one you ascribe to, but if your opposite number has no problem with YOUR being a Christian, why should you treat him with disrespect because he is  a Moslem, or a Jew, or an Athiest?  Follow the Rule that was laid down from the beginning of time.
